My IPOL presentation went really good. It was super fun showing my advisory around my site. I didn't really get much questions after my presentations but I gave the sophomores advice that I had for them. I just told them to be focused on their internships early and to focus on getting one secured early. Because that is what I think a lot of the people this year had a trouble with. I was the most excited to tell them about the the gym and connections. Honestly there was nothing that I didn't want to tell them about I enjoyed telling them everything about internship.
So doing my internship project was a pretty fun time for me. I basically just led workouts for the 11u and 13u teams at the gym. It was one of the best experiences in my life it was just so fun to see them working out and waiting for me to tell them what was next. I wouldn't change any of it to be different I think that they were perfect. What stood out to me was that the kids looked up to me and respected me and I thought it was cool and different for me. Im gonna miss these kids but maybe I can make free time and still train with them later. Well I have a really good relationship with Matt. He is the owner of the Mission Bay Self Made gym. And honestly I feel like I would be able to Get a job here as a personal trainer very soon if not right away. I will always be in contact with my mentor he is one of my most favorite people in the world. He is going to train me in the mornings at 5am before school every Monday Wednesday and Fridays. Once I go pro in the MLB I will send a big percent of my earnings to him because he has been there and helped me grow not only as a baseball player or athlete. But also grow into a man and a respectful selfless one. Some advice that I would give to future interns is to really try to learn from your mentors. Really be observant of everything even down to the little things. Because that is what I feel makes the difference that older employees have is experience on how to perfect the little things to perform their job perfectly. I think one of the biggest skills that they can have in their internship is to be very social or try to talk to as many people as you can. Because one of the coolest things you can gain from these internships, are connections. If you continue to pursue whatever your internship is you can get a very big leap ahead of your competition due to those connections.
Well just like Fridays post I am thankful for a lot of things. But I guess a new one that I am thankful for is that I am learning what it takes to really get better. The discipline, the hard work, it's a really long process before you start to see some good results. And I am thankful for the kids that I work with and train because they teach something that I forget a lot of times. They teach me how to live happy and to accomplish things not for a good grade or just for random reason, But to do so because you love doing It and it makes you happy.
The many things I am thankful for in this internship are an abundant amount. I think one of the most important for my future is the connections that I am building. I have met the owner of the gym and am now friends with him. As well with all the trainers in the gym, and just today my mentor introduced me to one of the trainers there who was a college football prospect gonna be a top draft pic. But no one got him because he had too many concussions. But he gave me a speech on how to be really successful in a sport and if you want to make it to the top. So really thankful for that. As well as all the knowledge that my mentor and Miss Judy the 80 year old that we train, are giving me.
To be honest with you my internship has gotten me really excited for college. Because while I am going to be in college I will be working out almost 24/7 and doing baseball practices almost every day. As well as during my internship I have been looking at a lot of colleges that have the major I want to do. And I layed my eyes on the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Their baseball program is Division 1 and the major that I want. The university offers in state tuition for Californians and its in Hawaii so that's cool.
I am looking very forward to my advisory internship visit IPOL it is going to be a very fun experience. I am planning to telling them all the things that I have learned in my voyage of internship I will be looking in all of my blog posts to get a better idea of what I will be speaking of. I know for sure I will talk about how I learned very valuable managing skills and how to work with younger kids who have a harder time staying focused. And then then telling them the different types of workouts for different results whether it being for mass, muscle burning, young, or old. As well as nutrition and what I have learned from Teryn, who actually taught me a lot about the American diet and what we should be eating. And whatever questions they throw at me, I will easily give them the answer because I have become pretty knowledgeable with my internship. I will just review what I have learned. I want to start doing a fitness transformation for myself and go on a strict workout schedule and strict diet so I get impressive results like I have in the past. Like last year in the fall and some winter I worked out very hard and did a pretty strict diet and gained about 10-15 pound of muscle and was a way better athlete with it. Now I hope to do the same and become faster, stronger, and healthier. I follow a lot of fitness people on social media and am always inspired and motivated to be just like them. But going almost everyday to this gym and seeing the Arnold schwarzenegger picture on the wall and listening to some of his speeches and motivational talks. I really aspire to be like him. Not physically but his drive, focus and hustle. And Teryn is also teaching me in how to kick a punching bag a little I am wearing tight jeans so I look gumpy doing it haha. I think the greatest qualities that literally everyone in the gym has this self love and positivity and love for how other people look. In this gym there are literally every single type of body type and person. Its really cool and inspirational and I get to understand why going to the gym really turns into a lifestyle. To be honest thinking for things to change about the social environment was literally impossible. Everything about this place is perfect the music playing on the speakers just loud enough, everyone being so nice, and the diversity of the gym equipment that they have. It's all just perfect. |
